Trailer

Here is our finished trailer. Any Comments would be appreciated.

Poster Cover

I have again used Oly Moore as the main feature for the Poster. I feel the image of him gives the poster an edge, were it can also attract the target audience, and relate to our set genre of film. I have also presented the names of actors involved in the media product, so the Star Theory would come in to play. Because when people see who is starring in this film, they would want to come and see the film, when it is released.
Any Comments on the Poster Cover would be appreciated.

Magazine Cover

I have used Oly Moore who is the main in feature/character in the film trailer for my Magazine Cover. Also, I have based my magazine cover on "Empire" so our media product would attract the target audience. Any Comments would be appreciated.

Magazine Mock Up

This is just a Magazine Mock up. I have based it on images of Empire and Total Film magazines, so I could get an idea of how to create a film magazine. In which I ended up using the basis of the Empire magazine cover.

Poster Mock Up

This is just a poster mock up image. I will be basing my poster relating to our own trailer so it could attract the audience.

For our film trailer, we have decided that we will be using people within our group because we feel we know what is expected, and the experience last time, helped us make the decision that we as a group will feature in our trailer. But as for now the Set Actor/Actress list is: Oly Moore, Josh Hogan, Georgia Turner, Tom McKee

Shutter Island Trailer Analysis

After viewing the Shutter Island trailer many times, Propp's narrative comes in to play. The main focus of the trailer is on the main Character Leonardo DiCaprio is playing, saying that the hero may be damaged mentally, but you dont know if he comes out the hero or not due it being a trailer. Enticing the audience to come and view the film.
It shows slow clips with dreary music at the beginning of the trailer when they first enter the island implying there is not much going on, apart from the mysterious "67" patient that is supposedly at the mental asylum. To which the two federal marshalls begin to investigate.
Leonardo DiCaprio's character then becomes the main focal point of the trailer where he starts to get closer and closer to finding out the truth. The music begins to pick up speed with lots of different clips of the film shown, in my opinion, slow motion. Although, due to intense background music, the clips seem very tense making the audience feel intensified and wanting to know the ending of the film.
The final image of the trailer is a picture of the island turning into a inkblot image of the island, with the title of the film "Shutter Island" broadcasted in the centre of the inkblot image. The fact that Leonardo DiCaprio's quotes "You'll never leave this island" gives this sense of isolation and you can't get out of it leaving the audience wanting to know if he does infact leave the island.

Saw 2 Trailer analysis

The fast paced editing of the trailer shows parts of the storyline but not giving much away so it entices the audience to go and see the film in the cinema.
The trailer starts off by relaying what happened in Saw. Where the use of montage editing quickens up the trailer giving the sense of intensity throughout the film while the audience watches it.
Also, suring the trailer, the characters are shown, but not introduced so it doesn't give too much away and spoil the film. The well renowned quote for the Saw films "I want to play a game" is also expressed giving further excitement for horror fans.
The Production companies logos are also portrayed briefly during the trailer, so it advertises their production company, and also showing that they are the ones who produced the film being advertised.
At the end of the trailer, the film title is also shown a bit longer than most of the sub titles, so that the viewers will remember the name of the film, so that they will want to see that film, the next time they go to the cinema or BlockBuster for example.

Welcome

Hi my name is Tom McKee and welcome to my blog.

I am writing up a blog for my A2 Media coursework and I will be tackling research such as film posters, magazines and trailers, analysing them, to find out what make people go to the cinema and watching that particular film, and what had convinced/enticed them to go.

Any Comments made about the research or any other portfolio's would be greatly appreciated.
